Some digital devices these days don’t come with a power cord or you may have some old power cords lying around.
Can you safely reuse and share these power cords with portable digital projectors without frying your new machine that cost hundreds of dollars?
The answer is yes. Most power cords are universal and interchangeable for portable data projectors.
Power cords for digital devices do come in several different types. They can be separated and easily identified by the type of connection.
Here are some of the most popular types of power cords out there. Depending on the size and power consumption of your portable digital projector, your device may use a different type of cord.
1.
The standard power cord that’s used to power computers and a variety of computer peripherals such as printers and monitors.
portable digital projectors are unlikely to use this type of power cord due to it’s large size. Larger more powerful projectors like home theater projectors or older model projectors may use this type of cord.
2.
Three prong connection power cords are the next most popular. These cords tend to be thinner and more flexible and the connector is also smaller, making this a popular cord for laptops, newer model printers, and portable digital projectors.
3.
The other popular cord used by portable digital devices is the figure 8 connector power cord. These are like the three prong “Mickey Mouse” cords and are frequently used to power laptops and audio visual equipment like portable data projectors.
The rule of thumb is, as long as the cord fits with the plug on your machine, it’s a safe bet that the cord will work safely.
Power cords simply conduct the 120 volt of electricity from the power outlet to the device. Then, inside the portable multimedia projector, internal power supplies will convert the power to the proper level as needed.
