I’m thinking of getting a video projector to replace my tv, but I’m not really sure about the pros and cons of a projectors so can you guys help me out? Also if you guys have any suggestions for projectors feel free to write them.

I’m from SE asia and am going on a shopping/vacation trip overseas for portable stereos, LCD projectors, digital cameras, and digital camcorders. I’d like some input on what country would be a good destination for the above items. They need not be name-brand but should be of good build and quality. Ideally, a good vacation potential, too! (or is that asking too much?)
I’m looking for a HD projector either XGA or SVGA? Do you think it’s worth it for the XGA? If so whats a good make and modle i’m tring to work with a 500 budget.
